Ubaidullah bin Abdullah bin Mas'ud narrated from his father (Abdullah bin Mas'ud) that he said: When Allah's Messenger sat for the first two Rak'ah it was as if he was on hot stones. Shu'bah (one of the narrators) said: Then Sa'd's lips moved (saying) something. So I said: 'Until he stood?' He said: 'Until he stood.'

حَدَّثَنَا مَحْمُودُ بْنُ غَيْلَانَ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ هُوَ الطَّيَالِسِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، أَخْبَرَنَا سَعْدُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، قَال:‏‏‏‏ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا عُبَيْدَةَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ يُحَدِّثُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِيهِ، قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا جَلَسَ فِي الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ الْأُولَيَيْنِ كَأَنَّهُ عَلَى الرَّضْفِ . قَالَ شُعْبَةُ:‏‏‏‏ ثُمَّ حَرَّكَ سَعْدٌ شَفَتَيْهِ بِشَيْءٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَأَقُولُ:‏‏‏‏ حَتَّى يَقُومَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَيَقُولُ حَتَّى يَقُومَ ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى:‏‏‏‏ هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏إِلَّا أَنَّ أَبَا عُبَيْدَةَ لَمْ يَسْمَعْ مِنْ أَبِيهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَالْعَمَلُ عَلَى هَذَا عِنْدَ أَهْلِ الْعِلْمِ يَخْتَارُونَ أَنْ لَا يُطِيلَ الرَّجُلُ الْقُعُودَ فِي الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ الْأُولَيَيْنِ وَلَا يَزِيدَ عَلَى التَّشَهُّدِ شَيْئًا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَقَالُوا:‏‏‏‏ إِنْ زَادَ عَلَى التَّشَهُّدِ فَعَلَيْهِ سَجْدَتَا السَّهْوِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏هَكَذَا رُوِيَ عَنْ الشَّعْبِيِّ وَغَيْرِهِ.

عبداللہ بن مسعود رضی الله عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم جب پہلی دونوں رکعتوں میں بیٹھتے تو ایسا لگتا گویا آپ گرم پتھر پر بیٹھے ہیں ۱؎، شعبہ ( راوی ) کہتے ہیں: پھر سعد نے اپنے دونوں ہونٹوں کو کسی چیز کے ساتھ حرکت دی ۲؎ تو میں نے کہا: یہاں تک کہ آپ کھڑے ہو جاتے؟ تو انہوں نے کہا: یہاں تک کہ آپ کھڑے ہو جاتے۔ امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: ۱- یہ حدیث حسن ہے، مگر ابوعبیدہ کا اپنے باپ سے سماع نہیں ہے، ۲- اہل علم کا عمل اسی پر ہے، وہ اسی کو پسند کرتے ہیں کہ آدمی پہلی دونوں رکعتوں میں قعدہ کو لمبا نہ کرے اور تشہد سے زیادہ کچھ نہ پڑھے، ان لوگوں کا کہنا ہے کہ اگر اس نے تشہد سے زیادہ کوئی چیز پڑھی تو اس پر سہو کے دو سجدے لازم ہو جائیں گے، شعبی وغیرہ سے اسی طرح مروی ہے ۳؎۔

Suhaib narrated: I passed by Allah's Messenger (S) while he was performing Salat, so I said greeted him with Salam, and he returned it by making signals. He said: I do not know except that he said: 'He indicated with his finger.'

Ibn Umar narrated: I said to Bilal: 'How did the Prophet (S) reply to them when they gave him Salams and he was performing Salat?' He said: 'He would motion with his hand.'

Abu Hurairah narrated that the : Prophet (S) said: Yawning is from the Shaitan, so when one of you yawns then let him suppress (it) as much as possible.

Imran bin Husain narrated: I asked Allah's Messenger (S) about the Salat for a man who is sitting. He said: 'Whoever performs Salat while standing then that is more virtuous. And whoever performs Salat while sitting, then he gets half the rewards of the one standing, and whoever performs Salat while lying down, then he gets half the rewards of the one sitting.'

This Hadith has been related from Ibrahim bin Tahman with this chain. Except that he said: From Imran bin Husain who said: 'I asked Allah's Messenger (S) about Salat for a sick person. He said: He performs Salat standing, if he is not able then sitting, if he is not able then on his side.
