Ibn Umar said: When the Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم became fat, Tamim al-Dari said to him: Should I make for you pulpit, Messenger of Allah, that will bear the burden of your body ? He said: Yes. So he made a pulpit consisting of two steps.

حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَاصِمٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ ابْنِ أَبِي رَوَّادٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ نَافِعٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَمَّا بَدَّنَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ لَهُ تَمِيمٌ الدَّارِيُّ:‏‏‏‏ أَلَا أَتَّخِذُ لَكَ مِنْبَرًا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ يَجْمَعُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَوْ يَحْمِلُ عِظَامَكَ ؟ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ بَلَى فَاتَّخَذَ لَهُ مِنْبَرًا مِرْقَاتَيْنِ.

عبداللہ بن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما کہتے ہیں کہ نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کا جسم ( بڑھاپے کی وجہ سے ) جب بھاری ہو گیا تو تمیم داری رضی اللہ عنہ نے آپ سے عرض کیا: اللہ کے رسول! کیا میں آپ کے لیے ایک منبر نہ تیار کر دوں جو آپ کی ہڈیوں کو مجتمع رکھے یا اٹھائے رکھے تو آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ہاں، کیوں نہیں! ، چنانچہ انہوں نے آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے لیے دو زینوں والا ایک منبر بنا دیا۔

Salamah bin al-Akwa said: The space between the pulpit of the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم and the wall (of the mosque) was such that a goat could pass.

Narrated Abu Qatadah: The Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم disapproved of the offering of prayer at the meridian except on Friday. The Hell-fire is kindled except on Friday. Abu Dawud said: This is a mursal tradition (i. e. the successor is narrating it directly from the Prophet). Mujahid is older than Abu al-Khalil, and Abu al-Khalil did not hear (any tradition from) Abu Qatadah.

Anas bin Malik said: The Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم used to offer the Friday prayer when the sun declined.

Salamah bin al-Akwa reported on the authority of his father: We used to offer the Friday prayer along with the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم and return (to our homes) while no shade of the walls was seen (at that time).

Al-Saib bin Yazid said: During the time of the Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم and Abu Bakr and Umar the call to the Friday prayer was first made at the time when the imam was seated on the pulpit (for giving the sermon). When the time of Uthman came, and the people became abundant, Uthman ordered to make a third call to the Friday prayer. It was made on al-Zaura (a house in Madina). The rule of action continued to the same effect.
