Abdur-Rahman bin Abis said: A man asked Ibb Abbas: Have you been present along with the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ? He replied: Yes. Had there been no dignity for me in his eyes, I would not have been present with him due to my minority. Then the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم came to the point that was near the house of Kathir bin al-Salt. He prayed and afterwards preached. He (Ibn Abbas) did not mention the adhan (call to prayer) and the iqamah. He then commanded to give alms. The women began to point to their ears and throats (to give their jewelry in alms).

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ كَثِيرٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَخْبَرَنَا سُفْيَانُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَابِسٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ سَأَلَ رَجُلٌ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ:‏‏‏‏ أَشَهِدْتَ الْعِيدَ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ؟ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ نَعَمْ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَلَوْلَا مَنْزِلَتِي مِنْهُ مَا شَهِدْتُهُ مِنَ الصِّغَرِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَأَتَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْعَلَمَ الَّذِي عِنْدَ دَارِ كَثِيرِ بْنِ الصَّلْتِ فَصَلَّى، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ خَطَبَ وَلَمْ يَذْكُرْ أَذَانًا وَلَا إِقَامَةً، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ ثُمَّ أَمَرَ بِالصَّدَقَةِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ فَجَعَلَ النِّسَاءُ يُشِرْنَ إِلَى آذَانِهِنَّ وَحُلُوقِهِنَّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ فَأَمَرَ بِلَالًا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَأَتَاهُنَّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ رَجَعَ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ .

عبدالرحمٰن بن عابس کہتے ہیں کہ ایک شخص نے ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما سے پوچھا: کیا آپ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے ساتھ نماز عید میں حاضر رہے ہیں؟ آپ نے کہا: ہاں اور اگر رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے نزدیک میری قدر و منزلت نہ ہوتی تو میں کمسنی کی وجہ سے آپ کے ساتھ حاضر نہ ہو پاتا ۱؎، رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم اس نشان کے پاس تشریف لائے جو کثیر بن صلت کے گھر کے پاس تھا تو آپ نے نماز پڑھی، پھر خطبہ دیا اور اذان اور اقامت کا انہوں نے ذکر نہیں کیا، پھر آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ہمیں صدقے کا حکم دیا، تو عورتیں اپنے کانوں اور گلوں ( یعنی بالیوں اور ہاروں ) کی طرف اشارے کرنے لگیں، وہ کہتے ہیں: تو آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے بلال رضی اللہ عنہ کو حکم دیا چنانچہ وہ ان کے پاس آئے پھر ( صدقہ لے کر ) نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے پاس واپس لوٹ آئے۔

Narrated Abdullah ibn Abbas: The Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم offered the Eid prayer without the adhan and the iqamah. Abu Bakr and Umar or Uthman also did so. The narrator Yahya is doubtful about Uthman.

Jabir bin Samurah said: I prayed the Eid prayer with the Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم not once or twice (but many times) without the adhan and the iqamah.

Narrated Aishah, Ummul Muminin: The Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم would say the takbir (Allah is most great) seven times in the first rak'ah and five times in the second rak'ah on the day of the breaking of the fast and on the day of sacrifice (on the occasion of both the Eid prayers, the two festivals).

The above mentioned tradition has also been narrated by Ibn Shihab through a different chain of transmitters to the same effect. This version adds: Except the two takers pronounced at the time of the bowing.

Abd bin Amr bin al-As said: The Prophet of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم said: There are seven takers in the first rak'ah and five in the second rak'ah of the prayer offered on the day of the breaking of the fast.

Narrated Abdullah ibn Amr ibn al-As: The Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم used to say on the day of the breaking of the fast seven takbirs in the first rak'ah and then recite the Quran, and utter the takbir (Allah is most great). Then he would stand, and utter the takbir four times. Thereafter he would recite the Quran and bow. Abu Dawud said: This has been narrated by Waki and Ibn al-Mubarak. Their version goes: Seven (in the first rak'ah) and five (in the second).
