Abu Juhaifah reported: I came to the prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم at Makkah; he was sitting in a tent made of leather. Then Bilal came out and called to prayer. I looked at his mouth following him this side and that side (i. e., right and left). Later at his Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم came out clad in a red suit, i. e, wearing the sheets of the Yemen, of the Qatri design. The version narrated by Musa has the word; “I saw Bilal going towards al-Abtah”. He then made a call to prayer. When he reached the words “ come to prayer, come to salvation”. He turned his neck right and left, respectively; he did not turn himself (with his whole body). He then entered (his house) and came out with a lancet. The narrator then reported the rest of the tradition.

حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا قَيْسٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ الرَّبِيعِ. ح وحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ الْأَنْبَارِيُّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ سُفْيَانَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏جَمِيعًا عَنْ عَوْنِ بْنِ أَبِي جُحَيْفَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِيهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ أَتَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِمَكَّةَ وَهُوَ فِي قُبَّةٍ حَمْرَاءَ مِنْ أَدَمٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَخَرَجَ بِلَالٌ فَأَذَّنَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَكُنْتُ أَتَتَبَّعُ فَمَهُ هَاهُنَا وَهَاهُنَا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ ثُمَّ خَرَجَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَعَلَيْهِ حُلَّةٌ حَمْرَاءُ بُرُودٌ يَمَانِيَةٌ قِطْرِيٌّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَقَالَ مُوسَى:‏‏‏‏ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ رَأَيْتُ بِلَالًا خَرَجَ إِلَى الْأَبْطَحِ فَأَذَّنَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَلَمَّا بَلَغَ حَيَّ عَلَى الصَّلَاةِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَيَّ عَلَى الْفَلَاحِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏لَوَى عُنُقَهُ يَمِينًا وَشِمَالًا وَلَمْ يَسْتَدِرْ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ دَخَلَ فَأَخْرَجَ الْعَنَزَةَ ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَسَاقَ حَدِيثَهُ.

ابوجحیفہ رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ میں مکہ میں نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے پاس آیا، آپ چمڑے کے ایک لال خیمہ میں تھے، بلال رضی اللہ عنہ باہر نکلے پھر اذان دی، میں انہیں اپنے منہ کو ادھر ادھر پھیرتے دیکھ رہا تھا، پھر رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نکلے، آپ یمنی قطری چادروں ۱؎ سے بنے سرخ جوڑے پہنے ہوئے تھے، موسی بن اسماعیل اپنی روایت میں کہتے ہیں کہ ابوحجیفہ نے کہا: میں نے بلال رضی اللہ عنہ کو دیکھا کہ وہ ابطح کی طرف نکلے پھر اذان دی، جب «حي على الصلاة» اور «حي على الفلاح» پر پہنچے تو اپنی گردن دائیں اور بائیں جانب موڑی اور خود نہیں گھومے ۲؎، پھر وہ اندر گئے اور نیزہ نکالا، پھر راوی نے پوری حدیث بیان کی۔

Abu Saeed Al-Khudri reported the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم as saying: When you hear the Adhan, you should repeat the same words as the Muadhdhin pronounces.

Abdullah bin Amr bin al-As reported the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم as saying: when you hear the muadhdhin repeat what he says, invoke a blessing on me, for everyone who invoke one blessing on me will receive ten blessings from Allah. Then ask Allah to give me the wasilah, which is a rank in paradise fitting for only one of Allah’s servants, and I hope that I may be the one. If anyone asks Allah that I be given the wasilah, he will be assured of my intercession.

Narrated Abdullah ibn Amr ibn al-As: A man said: Messenger of Allah, the muadhdhins excel us. The Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم said: Say (the same words) as they say, and when you come to the end, make a petition and that will be granted to you.

Saad bin Abi Waqqas reported the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم as saying: If anyone says when he hears the MuadhDHIN: “And I testify that there is no god but Allah alone who has no partner and that Muhammad is His servant and Messenger: I am satisfied with Allah as lord, with Muhammad as Messenger and with Islam as religion”, he will be forgiven.
