Translation

It was narrated that 'Aishah said: Fatimah bint Abi Hubaish suffered from Istihadah and she asked the Prophet (ﷺ): 'O Messenger of Allah, I suffer from Istihadah and I do not become pure; should I stop praying?' The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: 'That is a vein and is not menstruation. When your period comes, stop praying, and when it goes wash the traces of blood from yourself and perform Wudu'. That is a vein and is not menstruation.' It was said to him: What about Ghusl?' He (ﷺ) said: no one doubts that. Abu 'Abdur-Rahman said: I do not know anyone who mentioned 'and perform Wudu' in this Hadith except Hammad bin Zaid, for some others have reported it from Hisham, and they did not mention 'and perform Wudu' in it.

أَخْبَرَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ حَبِيبِ بْنِ عَرَبِيٍّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قال:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ وَهُوَ ابْنُ زَيْدٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِيهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قالت:‏‏‏‏ اسْتُحِيضَتْ فَاطِمَةُ بِنْتُ أَبِي حُبَيْشٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَسَأَلَتِ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَتْ:‏‏‏‏ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏إِنِّي أُسْتَحَاضُ فَلَا أَطْهُرُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَفَأَدَعُ الصَّلَاةَ ؟ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ إِنَّمَا ذَلِكَ عِرْقٌ وَلَيْسَتْ بِالْحَيْضَةِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَإِذَا أَقْبَلَتِ الْحَيْضَةُ فَدَعِي الصَّلَاةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَإِذَا أَدْبَرَتْ فَاغْسِلِي عَنْكِ أَثَرَ الدَّمِ وَتَوَضَّئِي، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَإِنَّمَا ذَلِكَ عِرْقٌ وَلَيْسَتْ بِالْحَيْضَةِ ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قِيلَ لَهُ:‏‏‏‏ فَالْغُسْلُ ؟ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ ذَلِكَ لَا يَشُكُّ فِيهِ أَحَدٌ . قَالَ أَبُو عَبْد الرَّحْمَنِ:‏‏‏‏ لَا أَعْلَمُ أَحَدًا ذَكَرَ فِي هَذَا الْحَدِيثِ وَتَوَضَّئِي غَيْرَ حَمَّادِ بْنِ زَيْدٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَقَدْ رَوَى غَيْرُ وَاحِدٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ هِشَامٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَلَمْ يَذْكُرْ فِيهِ وَتَوَضَّئِي.

ام المؤمنین عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا کہتی ہیں کہ فاطمہ بنت ابوحبیش رضی اللہ عنہا کو استحاضہ کا خون آیا، تو انہوں نے نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے عرض کیا: اللہ کے رسول! مجھے استحاضہ کا خون آتا ہے، پاک نہیں رہ پاتی ہوں، کیا نماز چھوڑ دوں؟ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: یہ تو ایک رگ ( کا خون ) ہے، حیض نہیں ہے، جب حیض کا خون آئے تو نماز چھوڑ دو، اور جب ختم ہو جائے تو خون کا دھبہ دھو لو، اور وضو کر لو، کیونکہ یہ ایک رگ ( کا خون ) ہے حیض کا خون نہیں ہے ، آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے پوچھا گیا: غسل؟ ( یعنی کیا غسل نہ کرے ) تو آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: اس میں کسی کو شک نہیں ہے ( یعنی حیض سے پاک ہونے کے بعد تو غسل کرنا ضروری ہے ہی ) ۔

She said: Sometimes he performed Ghusl at the beginning of the night and sometimes he performed Ghusl at the end. I said: Praise be to Allah Who has made the matter flexible.

It was narrated that Ghudaif bin Al-Harith said: I entered upon 'Aishah and asked her: 'Did the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) perform Ghusl at the beginning of the night or at the end?' She said: 'Both. Sometimes he performed Ghusl at the beginning and sometimes at the end.' I said: 'Praise be to Allah who has made the matter flexible.'
