Mukhawwal said: “I heard Abu Sa’d, a man from the people of Madinah, say: ‘I saw Abu Rafi’, the freed slave of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), when he saw Hasan bin ‘Ali performing prayer, with his hair braided. He undid it, or told him not to do that, and said: “The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) forbade a man from performing prayer with his hair braided.”

حَدَّثَنَا بَكْرُ بْنُ خَلَفٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدُ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ شُعْبَةَ . ح وحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَخْبَرَنِي مُخَوَّلُ بْنُ رَاشِدٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا سَعْدٍ رَجُلًا مِنْ أَهْلِ الْمَدِينَةِ يَقُولُ:‏‏‏‏ رَأَيْتُ أَبَا رَافِعٍ مَوْلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَأَى الْحَسَنَ بْنَ عَلِيٍّ وَهُوَ يُصَلِّي وَقَدْ عَقَصَ شَعْرَهُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَأَطْلَقَهُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَوْ نَهَى عَنْهُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ يُصَلِّيَ الرَّجُلُ وَهُوَ عَاقِصٌ شَعَرَهُ .

مدینہ کے ایک باشندہ ابوسعد کہتے ہیں کہ میں نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے مولی ابورافع کو دیکھا کہ انہوں نے حسن بن علی رضی اللہ عنہما کو اس حال میں نماز پڑھتے ہوئے دیکھا کہ وہ اپنے بالوں کا جوڑا باندھے ہوئے تھے، ابورافع رضی اللہ عنہ نے اسے کھول دیا، یا اس ( جوڑا باندھنے ) سے منع کیا، اور کہا: رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے منع فرمایا ہے کہ آدمی اپنے بالوں کو جوڑا باندھے ہوئے نماز پڑھے ۱؎۔

It was narrated that Ibn ‘Umar said: “The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: ‘Do not lift your gaze to the heavens lest your sight be snatched away,” meaning during prayer.

It was narrated that Anas bin Malik said: “The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) led his Companions in prayer one day. When he had finished prayer he turned to face the people and said: ‘What is wrong with some people that they lift their gaze to the heavens?’ He spoke severely concerning that: ‘They should certainly abstain from that or Allah will snatch away their sight.’”

It was narrated from Jabir bin Samurah that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: “Let those who lift their gaze to the heavens desist, or their sight will not come back.”

It was narrated that Ibn ‘Abbas said: “A woman used to perform prayer behind the Prophet (ﷺ), and she was one of the most beautiful of people. Some of the people used to go into the first row so that they would not see her, and some of them used to lag behind so that they would be in the last row, and when they bowed, they would do like this so that they could see her from beneath their armpits. Then Allah revealed: “And indeed, We know the first generations of you who had passed away, and indeed, We know the present generations of you (mankind), and also those who will some afterwards.” [15:24] concerning her matter.

It was narrated that Abu Hurairah said: “A man came to the Prophet (ﷺ) and said: ‘O Messenger of Allah! One of us performs prayer in a single garment.’ The Prophet (ﷺ) said: ‘Does everyone have two garments?’”

Abu Sa’eed Al-Khudri narrated that he entered upon the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) when he was performing prayer in a single garment, wrapping himself in it.
