It was narrated that Jabir said: “The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) went out on the Day of Al-Fitr or Al-Adha, and delivered a sermon standing up. Then he sat down briefly, then stood up again.”
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ حَكِيمٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَحْرٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيل بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ الْخَوْلَانِيُّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ جَابِرٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ خَرَجَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَوْمَ فِطْرٍ أَوْ أَضْحَى، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَخَطَبَ قَائِمًا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ قَعَدَ قَعْدَةً، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ قَامَ .
جابر رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ   رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم عید الفطر یا عید الاضحی میں گئے، تو آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے کھڑے ہو کر خطبہ دیا، پھر تھوڑی دیر بیٹھے، پھر کھڑے ہو گئے۔

It was narrated that ‘Abdullah bin Sa’ib said: “I attended the ‘Eid prayer with the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ). He led us in offering the ‘Eid prayer, then he said: ‘I have finished the prayer. Whoever wants to sit (and listen to) the sermon, then let him sit, and whoever wants to leave, then let him leave.’”
