Translation

It was narrated from Jabir bin ‘Abdullah that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) used to put two or three of the slain of Uhud in one shroud. He would ask: “Which of them had memorized more Qur’an?” And if one of them was pointed out to him, he would put him in the niche-grave first. And he said: “I am a witness over them.” He commanded that they should be buried with their blood, and that the funeral prayer should not be offered for them and they should not be washed.

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ رُمْحٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنْبَأَنَا اللَّيْثُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ كَعْبِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ كَانَ يَجْمَعُ بَيْنَ الرَّجُلَيْنِ وَالثَّلَاثَةِ مِنْ قَتْلَى أُحُدٍ فِي ثَوْبٍ وَاحِدٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ يَقُولُ:‏‏‏‏ أَيُّهُمْ أَكْثَرُ أَخْذًا لِلْقُرْآنِ ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَإِذَا أُشِيرَ لَهُ إِلَى أَحَدِهِمْ قَدَّمَهُ فِي اللَّحْدِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ أَنَا شَهِيدٌ عَلَى هَؤُلَاءِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَأَمَرَ بِدَفْنِهِمْ فِي دِمَائِهِمْ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَلَمْ يُصَلِّ عَلَيْهِمْ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَلَمْ يُغَسَّلُوا .

جابر بن عبداللہ رضی اللہ عنہما سے روایت ہے کہ نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم غزوہ احد کے شہداء میں سے دو دو تین تین کو ایک کپڑے میں لپیٹتے، پھر پوچھتے: ان میں سے قرآن کس کو زیادہ یاد ہے ؟ جب ان میں سے کسی ایک کی جانب اشارہ کیا جاتا، تو اسے قبر ( قبلہ کی طرف ) میں آگے کرتے، اور فرماتے: میں ان لوگوں پہ گواہ ہوں،، اور آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے انہیں ان کے خونوں کے ساتھ دفن کرنے کا حکم دیا، نہ تو آپ نے ان کی نماز جنازہ پڑھی، اور نہ غسل دلایا ۱؎۔

It was narrated from Ibn ‘Abbas that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) commanded that the weapons and armor should be removed from the slain of Uhud, and they should be buried in their clothes stained with blood.

It was narrated from Aswad bin Qais that he heard Nubaih Al-‘Anazi say: “I heard Jabir bin ‘Abdullah say: ‘The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) commanded that the slain of the battle of Uhud should be returned to the battlefield; they had been moved to Al-Madinah.’”

It was narrated that Abu Hurairah said: “The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: ‘Whoever offers the funeral prayer in the mosque will have nothing (i.e., no reward).’”

‘Uqbah bin ‘Amir Al-Juhani said: “There are three times during the day when the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) forbade us to offer the funeral prayer or bury our dead: When the sun has fully risen (until it is higher up in the sky); when it is overhead at noon, until it has passed the meridian: and when it is starting to set until it has set.”
