Translation

It was narrated that ‘Aishah said: “The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) opened a door that was between him and the people or drew back a curtain and he saw the people praying behind Abu Bakr. He praised Allah for what he saw of their good situation and hoped that Allah succeed him by what he saw in them.* He said: ‘O people, whoever among the people or among the believers is stricken with a calamity, then let him console himself with the loss of me, for no one among my nation will be stricken with any calamity worse than my loss.’”

حَدَّثَنَا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ عَمْرِو بْنِ السُّكَيْنِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو هَمَّامٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ عُبَيْدَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا مُصْعَبُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْأَبِي سَلَمَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَتْ:‏‏‏‏ فَتَحَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَابًا بَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَ النَّاسِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَوْ كَشَفَ سِتْرًا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَإِذَا النَّاسُ يُصَلُّونَ وَرَاءَ أَبِي بَكْرٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَحَمِدَ اللَّهَ عَلَى مَا رَأَى مِنْ حُسْنِ حَالِهِمْ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏رَجَاءَ أَنْ يَخْلُفَهُ اللَّهُ فِيهِمْ بِالَّذِي رَآهُمْ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ أَيُّمَا أَحَدٍ مِنَ النَّاسِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَوْ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ أُصِيبَ بِمُصِيبَةٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَلْيَتَعَزَّ بِمُصِيبَتِهِ بِي عَنِ الْمُصِيبَةِ الَّتِي تُصِيبُهُ بِغَيْرِي، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَإِنَّ أَحَدًا مِنْ أُمَّتِي لَنْ يُصَابَ بِمُصِيبَةٍ بَعْدِي أَشَدَّ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ مُصِيبَتِي .

ام المؤمنین عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا کہتی ہیں کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ( مرض الموت میں ) ایک دروازہ کھولا جو آپ کے اور لوگوں کے درمیان تھا، یا پردہ ہٹایا تو دیکھا کہ لوگ ابوبکر رضی اللہ عنہ کے پیچھے نماز پڑھ رہے ہیں، آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ان کو اچھی حالت میں دیکھ کر اللہ کا شکر ادا کیا، اور امید کی کہ اللہ تعالیٰ اس عمل کو ان کے درمیان آپ کے انتقال کے بعد بھی باقی رکھے گا، اور فرمایا: اے لوگو! لوگوں میں سے یا مومنوں میں سے جو کوئی کسی مصیبت میں مبتلا ہو جائے، تو وہ میری وفات کی مصیبت کو یاد کر کے صبر کرے، اس لیے کہ میری امت میں سے کسی کو میرے بعد ایسی مصیبت نہ ہو گی جو میری وفات کی مصیبت سے اس پر زیادہ سخت ہو ۱؎۔

It was narrated from Fatimah bint Husain that her father said: The Prophet (ﷺ) said: “Whoever was stricken with a calamity and when he remembers it he says ‘Inna lillahi, wa inna ilayhi raji’un (Truly, to Allah we belong and truly, to Him we shall return),’ even though it happened a long time ago, Allah will record for him a reward like that of the day it befell him.”

Qais, Abu ‘Umarah, the freed slave of the Ansar, said: “I heard ‘Abdullah bin Abu Bakr bin Muhammad bin ‘Amr bin Hazm narrating from his father, from his grandfather, that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: ‘There is no believer who consoles for his brother for a calamity, but Allah will clothe him with garments of honor on the Day of Resurrection.’”

It was narrated that ‘Abdullah said: “The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: ‘Whoever consoles a person stricken by calamity will have a reward equal to his.’”

It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: “No man who loses three of his children will ever enter the Fire, except in fulfillment of the oath (of Allah).”*

‘Utbah bin ‘Abd Sulami said: “I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say: ‘There is no Muslim, three of whose children die before reaching the age of puberty, but they will meet him at the eight gates of Paradise and whichever one he wants he will enter through it.’”

It was narrated from Anas bin Malik that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: “There are no two Muslims (mother and father), three of whose children die before reaching the age of puberty, but Allah will admit them to Paradise by virtue of His mercy towards them.”
