It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Prophet (ﷺ) used to fast on Mondays and Thursdays. It was said: “O Messenger of Allah, why do you fast on Mondays and Thursdays?” He said: “On Mondays and Thursdays Allah forgives every Muslim except two who have forsaken one another. He says: ‘Leave these two until they reconcile.’”
حَدَّثَنَا الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَظِيمِ الْعَنْبَرِيُّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا الضَّحَّاكُ بْنُ مَخْلَدٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ رِفَاعَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ سُهَيْلِ بْنِ أَبِي صَالِحٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِيهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ كَانَ يَصُومُ الِاثْنَيْنِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَالْخَمِيسَ ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقِيلَ:‏‏‏‏ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏إِنَّكَ تَصُومُ الِاثْنَيْنِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَالْخَمِيسَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ إِنَّ يَوْمَ الِاثْنَيْنِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَالْخَمِيسَ يَغْفِرُ اللَّهُ فِيهِمَا لِكُلِّ مُسْلِمٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏إِلَّا مُهْتَجِرَيْنِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏يَقُولُ:‏‏‏‏ دَعْهُمَا حَتَّى يَصْطَلِحَا .
ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ   نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم دوشنبہ اور جمعرات کو روزہ رکھتے تھے، تو پوچھا گیا: اللہ کے رسول! آپ دوشنبہ اور جمعرات کو روزہ رکھتے ہیں؟ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: دو شنبہ اور جمعرات کو اللہ تعالیٰ ہر مسلمان کو بخش دیتا ہے سوائے دو ایسے لوگوں کے جنہوں نے ایک دوسرے سے قطع تعلق کر رکھا ہو، اللہ تعالیٰ فرماتا ہے: ان دونوں کو چھوڑو یہاں تک کہ باہم صلح کر لیں ۔

It was narrated from Abu Mujibah Al-Bahili that his father or, his paternal uncle, said: “I came to the Prophet (ﷺ) and said: ‘O Prophet of Allah, I am the man who came to you last year.’ He said: ‘Why do I see your body so thin (and weak)?’ He said: ‘O Messenger of Allah! I do not eat during the day; I only eat at night.’ He said: ‘Who commanded you to punish yourself?’ I said: ‘O Messenger of Allah! I am strong enough.’ He said: ‘Fast the month of patience* and one day after it.’ I said: ‘I am strong enough (to do more).’ He said: ‘Fast the month of patience and two days after it.’ I said: ‘I am strong enough (to do more).’ He said: ‘Fast the month of patience and three days after it, and fast the sacred months.’”
