It was narrated from Jabir bin 'Abdullah that : his father died owing thirty Wasq to a Jewish man. Jabir bin Abdullah asked him for respite but he refused. Jabir asked the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) to intercede for him with him, so the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) went and spoke to the Jew, asking him to accept dates in lieu of what was owed, but he refused. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) spoke to him but he refused to give respite. Then the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) went in among the date-palm trees and walked among them. Then he said to Jabir: “Pick (dates) for him and pay off what is owed to him in full.” So he picked thirty Wasq of dates after the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) came back, and there were twelve Wasq more (than what was owed). Jabir came to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) to tell him what had happened, and he found that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) was absent. When the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) came back he came to him and told him that he had paid off the debt in full, and he told him about the extra dates. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “Tell 'Umar bin Khattab about that.” So Jabir went to 'Umar said to him: “I knew when the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) walked amongst them that Allah (SWT) would bless them for us.”

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الدِّمَشْقِيُّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا شُعَيْبُ بْنُ إِسْحَاق، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عُرْوَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ وَهْبِ بْنِ كَيْسَانَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنَّ أَبَاهُ تُوُفِّيَ وَتَرَكَ عَلَيْهِ ثَلَاثِينَ وَسْقًا لِرَجُلٍ مِنَ الْيَهُودِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَاسْتَنْظَرَهُ جَابِرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَأَبَى أَنْ يُنْظِرَهُ فَكَلَّمَ جَابِرٌ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لِيَشْفَعَ لَهُ إِلَيْهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَجَاءَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَكَلَّمَ الْيَهُودِيَّ لِيَأْخُذَ ثَمَرَ نَخْلِهِ بِالَّذِي لَهُ عَلَيْهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَأَبَى عَلَيْهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَكَلَّمَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَأَبَى أَنْ يُنْظِرَهُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَدَخَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ النَّخْلَ فَمَشَى فِيهَا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ قَالَ لِجَابِرٍ:‏‏‏‏ جُدَّ لَهُ فَأَوْفِهِ الَّذِي لَهُ ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَجَدَّ لَهُ بَعْدَ مَا رَجَعَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ثَلَاثِينَ وَسْقًا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَفَضَلَ لَهُ اثْنَا عَشَرَ وَسْقًا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَجَاءَ جَابِرٌ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لِيُخْبِرَهُ بِالَّذِي كَانَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَوَجَدَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ غَائِبًا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَلَمَّا انْصَرَفَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ جَاءَهُ فَأَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّهُ قَدْ أَوْفَاهُ وَأَخْبَرَهُ بِالْفَضْلِ الَّذِي فَضَلَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ أَخْبِرْ بِذَلِكَ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَذَهَبَ جَابِرٌ إِلَى عُمَرَ فَأَخْبَرَهُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ لَهُ عُمَرُ:‏‏‏‏ لَقَدْ عَلِمْتُ حِينَ مَشَى فِيهِ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏لَيُبَارِكَنَّ اللَّهُ فِيهَا.

جابر بن عبداللہ رضی اللہ عنہما سے روایت ہے کہ ان کے والد وفات پا گئے، اور اپنے اوپر ایک یہودی کے تیس وسق کھجور قرض چھوڑ گئے، جابر رضی اللہ عنہ نے اس یہودی سے مہلت مانگی لیکن اس نے انہیں مہلت دینے سے انکار کر دیا تو انہوں نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے عرض کیا کہ آپ اس سے اس کی سفارش کر دیں، رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم اس کے پاس گئے اور آپ نے اس سے بات کی کہ وہ ان کھجوروں کو جو ان کے درخت پر ہیں اپنے قرض کے بدلہ لے لے، لیکن وہ نہیں مانا، پھر آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے اس سے مہلت مانگی، لیکن وہ انہیں مہلت دینے پر بھی راضی نہ ہوا تو رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ان درختوں کے پاس تشریف لے گئے، اور ان کے درمیان چلے پھر جابر رضی اللہ عنہ سے کہا: ان کھجوروں کو توڑ کر اس کا جو قرض ہے اسے پورا پورا ادا کر دو ، چنانچہ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے واپس چلے جانے کے بعد جابر رضی اللہ عنہ نے تیس وسق کھجور توڑی ( جس سے جابر رضی اللہ عنہ نے اس کا قرض چکایا ) اور بارہ وسق کھجور بچ بھی گئی، جابر رضی اللہ عنہ نے یہ صورت حال دیکھی تو رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو بتانے آئے، لیکن آپ کو موجود نہیں پایا، جب آپ واپس تشریف لائے تو وہ پھر دوبارہ حاضر ہوئے، اور آپ کو بتایا کہ اس کا قرض پورا پورا ادا کر دیا ہے، اور جو زائد کھجور بچ گئی تھی اس کی بھی خبر دی، رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: جاؤ اسے عمر بن خطاب کو بھی بتا دو ، چنانچہ جابر رضی اللہ عنہ عمر رضی اللہ عنہ کے پاس گئے، اور انہیں بھی اس کی خبر دی، یہ سن کر عمر رضی اللہ عنہ بولے: میں اسی وقت سمجھ گیا تھا جب آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ان درختوں کے درمیان چلے تھے کہ اللہ تعالیٰ ان میں ضرور برکت دے گا ۱؎۔

It was narrated from 'Abdullah bin 'Amr that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “A debt will be settled on the Day of Resurrection if the one who owes it dies, apart from three: A man who lost his strength fighting in the cause of Allah (SWT), so he borrows in order to become strong again to fighting in the cause of Allah (SWT), so he borrows in order to become strong again to fight the enemy of Allah (SWT) and his enemy. A man who sees a Muslims die and he cannot find anything with which to shroud him except by taking a loan. A man who sees a Muslim die and he cannot find anything with which to shroud him except, by taking a loan. A man who fears Allah (SWT) if he stays single, so he gets married for fear of (losing) his religious commitment. Allah will pay off the debt for these people on the Day of Resurrection.”

It was narrated from 'Aisha that : the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) bought some food from a Jew with payment to be made later, and he pawned his armor for that.

It was narrated that Anas said: “The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) pawned his armor to a jew in Al-Madinah, and took barely for his family in return.”

It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “A mount may be ridden when it is pawned, and its milk may be drunk when it is pawned, but the one who rides it or milks it must pay for its upkeep.' ”
