It was narrated that Qarazah bin Ka'b said: Umar bin Al-Khattab sent us to Kufah, and he accompanied us as far as a place called Sirar. He said: 'Do you know why I walked with you?' We said: 'Because of the rights of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) and because of the rights of the Ansar.' He said: 'No, rather it is because of words that I wanted to say to you. I wanted you to memorize it due to my walking with you. You are going to people in whose hearts the Qur'an bubbles like water in a copper cauldron. When they see you, they will look up at you, saying: The Companions of Muhammad! But do not recite many reports from the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), then I will be your partner.

حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ مُجَالِدٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ الشَّعْبِيِّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ قَرَظَةَ بْنِ كَعْبٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ بَعَثَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ إِلَى الْكُوفَةِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَشَيَّعَنَا فَمَشَى مَعَنَا إِلَى مَوْضِعٍ يُقَالُ لَهُ صِرَارٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ أَتَدْرُونَ لِمَ مَشَيْتُ مَعَكُمْ؟ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ قُلْنَا:‏‏‏‏ لِحَقِّ صُحْبَةِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَلِحَقِّ الْأَنْصَارِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ لَكِنِّي مَشَيْتُ مَعَكُمْ لِحَدِيثٍ أَرَدْتُ أَنْ أُحَدِّثَكُمْ بِهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَأَرَدْتُ أَنْ تَحْفَظُوهُ لِمَمْشَايَ مَعَكُمْ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏إِنَّكُمْ تَقْدَمُونَ عَلَى قَوْمٍ لِلْقُرْآنِ فِي صُدُورِهِمْ هَزِيزٌ كَهَزِيزِ الْمِرْجَلِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَإِذَا رَأَوْكُمْ مَدُّوا إِلَيْكُمْ أَعْنَاقَهُمْ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَقَالُوا:‏‏‏‏ أَصْحَابُ مُحَمَّدٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَأَقِلُّوا الرِّوَايَةَ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَأَنَا شَرِيكُكُمْ .

قرظہ بن کعب کہتے ہیں کہ ہمیں عمر بن خطاب رضی اللہ عنہ نے کوفہ بھیجا، اور ہمیں رخصت کرنے کے لیے آپ ہمارے ساتھ مقام صرار تک چل کر آئے اور کہنے لگے: کیا تم جانتے ہو کہ میں تمہارے ساتھ کیوں چل کر آیا ہوں؟ قرظہ کہتے ہیں کہ ہم نے کہا: رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی صحبت کے حق اور انصار کے حق کی ادائیگی کی خاطر آئے ہیں، کہا: نہیں، بلکہ میں تمہارے ساتھ ایک بات بیان کرنے کے لیے آیا ہوں، میں نے چاہا کہ میرے ساتھ آنے کی وجہ سے تم اسے یاد رکھو گے: تم ایسے لوگوں کے پاس جا رہے ہو جن کے سینوں میں قرآن ہانڈی کی طرح جوش مارتا ہو گا، جب وہ تم کو دیکھیں گے تو ( مارے شوق کے ) اپنی گردنیں تمہاری طرف لمبی کریں گے ۱؎، اور کہیں گے: یہ اصحاب محمد ہیں، تم ان سے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی حدیثیں کم بیان کرنا، جاؤ میں بھی تمہارا شریک ہوں ۔

It was narrated that Sa'ib bin Yazid said: I accompanied Sa'd bin Malik from Al-Madinah to Makkah and I did not hear him narrate a single Hadith from the Prophet (ﷺ).

It was narrated from 'Abdur-Rahman bin 'Abdullah bin Mas'ud that his father said: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: 'Whoever tells lies about me deliberately, let him take his place in Hell.

It was narrated from that 'Ali said: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: 'Do not tell lies about me, for telling lies about me leads to Hell (Fire).

It was narrated that Anas bin Malik said: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: 'Whoever tells lies about me', I (the narrator) think that he also said 'deliberately', let him take his place in Hell.'
