Translation

It was narrated that ‘Abdur-Rahman bin Yazid said: “When ‘Abdullah bin Mas’ud stoned ‘Aqabah Pillar, he went to the bottom of the valley and turned to face the Ka’bah, with the Pillar on his right hand side. Then he threw seven pebbles, saying the Takbir with each one. Then he said: ‘From here, by the One besides Whom there is none worthy of worship, did the one throw, to whom Surat Al-Baqarah was revealed.’”

حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ الْمَسْعُودِيِّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ جَامِعِ بْنِ شَدَّادٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ لَمَّا أَتَىعَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مَسْعُودٍ جَمْرَةَ الْعَقَبَةِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏اسْتَبْطَنَ الْوَادِيَ وَاسْتَقْبَلَ الْكَعْبَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَجَعَلَ الْجَمْرَةَ عَلَى حَاجِبِهِ الْأَيْمَنِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ رَمَى بِسَبْعِ حَصَيَاتٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏يُكَبِّرُ مَعَ كُلِّ حَصَاةٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ مِنْ هَاهُنَا وَالَّذِي لَا إِلَهَ غَيْرُهُ رَمَى، ‏‏‏‏‏‏الَّذِي أُنْزِلَتْ عَلَيْهِ سُورَةُ الْبَقَرَةِ .

عبدالرحمٰن بن یزید کہتے ہیں کہ جب عبداللہ بن مسعود رضی اللہ عنہ جمرہ عقبہ کے پاس آئے تو وادی کے نچلے حصے میں گئے، کعبہ کی طرف رخ کیا، اور جمرہ عقبہ کو اپنے دائیں ابرو پر کیا، پھر سات کنکریاں ماریں، ہر کنکری پر اللہ اکبر کہتے جاتے تھے پھر کہا: قسم اس ذات کی جس کے علاوہ کوئی معبود برحق نہیں، یہیں سے اس ذات نے کنکری ماری ہے جس پر سورۃ البقرہ نازل کی گئی۔

It was narrated from Sulaiman bin ‘Amr bin Ahwas that his mother said: “I saw the Prophet (ﷺ) on the Day of Sacrifice, at ‘Aqabah Pillar. He went to the interior of the valley and threw seven pebbles, saying Takbir with each pebble, then he departed.”

It was narrated that Qudamah bin ‘Abdullah Al-‘Amiri said: “I saw the Prophet (ﷺ) stone the Pillar, on the Day of Sacrifice, from atop a reddish-brown camel of his, without beating anyone, driving them off or telling them to go away.”

It was narrated from Abu Baddah bin ‘Asim, from his father, that the Prophet (ﷺ) granted permission for some shepherds to stone one day and to not stone (the next) day.
