It was narrated that Abu Hurairah said: “The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) used to say: ‘Allahumma inni a’udhu bika minal-ju’, fa innahu bi’sad- daji’, wa a’udhu bika minal-khiyanah, fa innaha bi’satil-bitanah (O Allah, I seek refuge with You from hunger, for it is a bad companion, and I seek refuge with You from treachery, for it is a bad thing to hide in one’s heart).’”
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ،‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاق بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ،‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا هُرَيْمٌ،‏‏‏‏ عَنْ لَيْثٍ،‏‏‏‏ عَنْ كَعْبٍ،‏‏‏‏ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ،‏‏‏‏ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ،‏‏‏‏ يَقُولُ:‏‏‏‏ اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْجُوعِ،‏‏‏‏ فَإِنَّهُ بِئْسَ الضَّجِيعُ،‏‏‏‏ وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْخِيَانَةِ،‏‏‏‏ فَإِنَّهَا بِئْسَتِ الْبِطَانَةُ .
ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ   رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم فرماتے تھے: «اللهم إني أعوذ بك من الجوع فإنه بئس الضجيع وأعوذ بك من الخيانة فإنها بئست البطانة» اے اللہ! میں تیری پناہ مانگتا ہوں بھوک سے کہ وہ بدترین ساتھی ہے، اور تیری پناہ مانگتا ہوں خیانت سے کہ وہ بری خفیہ خصلت ہے ۔

Safinah, Abu ‘Abdur-Rahman, narrated that a man visited ‘Ali bin Abu Talib and he made some food for him.* Fatimah said: “Why don’t we invite the Prophet (ﷺ) to eat with us?” So they invited him and he came. He put his hand on the doorpost of the house and saw a thin curtain in the corner of the house, so he went back. Fatimah said to ‘Ali: “Go and catch up with him, and ask him: ‘What made you go back, O Messenger of Allah?” He said: “I do not enter a well-decorated house.”
