It was narrated that Abu Hurairah said: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: 'Whoever is given a Fatwa (verdict) that has no basis, then his sin will be upon the one who issued that Fatwa.'

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ يَزِيدَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي أَيُّوبَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو هَانِئٍ حُمَيْدُ بْنُ هَانِئٍ الْخَوْلَانِيُّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِي عُثْمَانَ مُسْلِمِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ مَنْ أُفْتِيَ بِفُتْيَا غَيْرَ ثَبَتٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَإِنَّمَا إِثْمُهُ عَلَى مَنْ أَفْتَاهُ .

ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: جسے ( بغیر تحقیق کے ) کوئی غلط فتویٰ دیا گیا ( اور اس نے اس پر عمل کیا ) تو اس کا گناہ فتویٰ دینے والے پر ہو گا ۔

It was narrated that 'Abdullah bin 'Amr said: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: 'Knowledge is based on three things, and anything beyond that is superfluous: a clear Verse, an established Sunnah, or the rulings by which the inheritance is divided fairly.'

Mu'adh bin Jabal said: When the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) sent me to Yemen, he said: 'Do not pass any judgment or make any decision except on the basis of what you know. If you are uncertain about a matter, wait until you understand it fully, or write to me concerning it.' (Maudu')

It was narrated that 'Abdullah bin 'Amr bin 'As said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say: 'The affairs of the Children of Israel remained fair until Muwalladun emerged among them - the children of female slaves from other nations. They spoke of their own opinions (in religious matters) and so they went astray and led others astray.'

It was narrated that Abu Hurairah said: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: 'Faith has sixty-some or seventy parts, the least of which is to remove a harmful thing from the road and the greatest of which is to say La ilaha illalah (none has the right to be worshipped but Allah). And modesty is a branch of faith.' Another chain from Abu Hurairah, from the Prophet (ﷺ) with similar wording.

It was narrated from Salim that his father said: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said heard a man urging his brother to be modest. He said: 'Indeed modesty is a branch of faith.'

It was narrated that Abdullah said: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: 'No one will enter Paradise who has even a mustard-seed's weight of arrogance in his heart, and no one will enter Hell who has even a mustard-seed's weight of faith in his heart.'
