Jabir said: We were in the company of the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم during a journey. The rain fell upon us. The Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم said: Anyone who wants to pray in his dwelling may pray.

حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا الْفَضْلُ بْنُ دُكَيْنٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ جَابِرٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ كُنَّا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي سَفَرٍ فَمُطِرْنَا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ لِيُصَلِّ مَنْ شَاءَ مِنْكُمْ فِي رَحْلِهِ .

جابر رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں ہم رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے ساتھ ایک سفر میں تھے کہ بارش ہونے لگی تو رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: تم میں سے جو چاہے وہ اپنے ڈیرے میں نماز پڑھ لے ۔

Ibn Sirin said: Ibn Abbas said to his Muadhdhin on a rainy day: “when you utter the words ‘ I testify that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, ” do not say, ” Come to prayer” but say “Pray at your homes, ” By this (announcement) the people were surprised. He said: One who was better than me has done it. The Friday prayer is an obligatory duty. But I disliked to put you to hardship so that you might walk in mud and rain.

Narrated Tariq ibn Shihab: The Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم said: The Friday prayer in congregation is a necessary duty for every Muslim, with four exceptions; a slave, a woman, a boy, and a sick person. Abu Dawud said: Tariq bin Shihab had seen the Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم but not heard anything from him.

Narrated Kab ibn Malik: Abdur Rahman ibn Kab ibn Malik said: When Kab ibn Malik heard the call to prayer on Friday, he prayed for Asad ibn Zurarah. I asked him: What is the matter that when you hear the call to prayer, you pray for Asad ibn Zurarah? He replied: This is because he held the Friday prayer for the first time for us at Hazm an-Nabit of Harrah belonging to Banu Bayadah in Naqi', called Naqi' al-Khadumat. I asked him: How many were you at that time ? He said: Forty.

Narrated Zayd ibn Arqam: Ilyas ibn Abu Ramlah ash-Shami said: I witnessed Muawiyah ibn Abu Sufyan asking Zayd ibn Arqam: Did you offer along with the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم the Friday and Eid prayers synchronised on the same day? He said: Yes. He asked: How did he do? He replied: He offered the Eid prayer, then granted concession to offer the Friday prayer, and said: If anyone wants to offer it, he may offer.

Narrated Abdullah ibn Abbas: Ata ibn Abu Rabah said: Ibn az-Zubayr led us in the Eid prayer on Friday early in the morning. When we went to offer the Friday, he did not come out to us. So we prayed ourselves alone. At that time Ibn Abbas was present in at-Taif. When he came to us, we mentioned this (incident) to him. He said: He followed the sunnah.
