Nafi reported: A muadhdhin of Umar, named Masruh, called the Adhan for the morning prayer before the break of dawn; Umar commanded him (to repeat). The narrator reported the tradition in a similar way. Abu Dawud said: This tradition has been transmitted by al-Darawardi from Ubaid Allah on the authority of Ibn Umar, saying: there was a muadhdhin of Umar, named Masud. He then narrated the rest of the tradition. This version is more correct than one.

حَدَّثَنَا أَيُّوبُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا شُعَيْبُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ بْنِ أَبِي رَوَّادٍ،‏‏‏‏أَخْبَرَنَا نَافِعٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ مُؤَذِّنٍ لِعُمَرَ يُقَالُ لَهُ:‏‏‏‏ مَسْرُوحٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَذَّنَ قَبْلَ الصُّبْحِ فَأَمَرَهُ عُمَرُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَذَكَرَ نَحْوَهُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ أَبُو دَاوُد وَقَدْ رَوَاهُ حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ نَافِعٍ أَوْ غَيْرِهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنَّ مُؤَذِّنًا لِعُمَرَ يُقَالُ لَهُ:‏‏‏‏ مَسْرُوحٌ أَوْ غَيْرُهُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ أَبُو دَاوُد، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَرَوَاهُ الدَّرَاوَرْدِيُّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ نَافِعٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ كَانَ لِعُمَرَ مُؤَذِّنٌ يُقَالُ لَهُ:‏‏‏‏ مَسْعُودٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَذَكَرَ نَحْوَهُ. وَهَذَا أَصَحُّ مِنْ ذَاكَ

عمر رضی اللہ عنہ کے مسروح نامی مؤذن سے روایت ہے کہ انہوں نے صبح صادق سے پہلے اذان دے دی تو عمر رضی اللہ عنہ نے انہیں حکم دیا، پھر انہوں نے اسی طرح کی روایت ذکر کی۔ ابوداؤد کہتے ہیں: اسے حماد بن زید نے عبیداللہ بن عمر سے، عبیداللہ نے نافع سے یا کسی اور سے روایت کیا ہے کہ عمر رضی اللہ عنہ کا ایک مؤذن تھا ( جس کا نام مسروح یا کچھ اور تھا ) ۔ ابوداؤد کہتے ہیں: اسے دراوردی نے عبیداللہ سے، عبیداللہ نے نافع سے، نافع نے ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما سے روایت کیا ہے کہ عمر رضی اللہ عنہ کا مسعود نامی ایک مؤذن تھا، اور دراوردی نے اسی طرح کی روایت ذکر کی اور یہ پہلی روایت سے زیادہ صحیح ہے۔

Narrated Bilal: The Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم said to Bilal: Do not call adhan until the dawn appears clearly to you in this way, stretching his hand in latitude. Abu Dawud said: Shaddad did not see Bilal.

Aishah reported: Ibn Umm Maktum was the muadhdhin of the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم and he was blind.

Abu al-Shatha said: we were sitting with Abu Hurairah in the mosque. A man went out of the mosque after the ADHAN for the afternoon prayer had been called. Abu Hurairah said: As regards this (man), he disobeyed Abu al-Qasim, the prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم.

Jabir bin Samurah said: Bilal would call the Adhan, then he used come to wait. When he would see that the prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم had come out (of his house), he would pronounce the iqama.

Narrated Abdullah ibn Umar: Mujahid reported: I was in the company of Ibn Umar. A person invited the people for the noon or afternoon prayer (after the adhan had been called). He said: Go out with us (from this mosque) because this is an innovation (in religion).
