Amr bin Shuaib, on his father’s authority, quoted his grandfather as saying: There is no short or long surah in al-Mufassal which I have not heard the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم reciting when he led the people in the prescribed prayer.

حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ السَّرْخَسِيُّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا وَهْبُ بْنُ جَرِيرٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ سَمِعْتُ مُحَمَّدَ بْنَ إِسْحَاقَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏يُحَدِّثُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْعَمْرِو بْنِ شُعَيْبٍ،‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِيهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ جَدِّهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنَّهُ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ مَا مِنْ الْمُفَصَّلِ سُورَةٌ صَغِيرَةٌ وَلَا كَبِيرَةٌ إِلَّا وَقَدْ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَؤُمُّ النَّاسَ بِهَا فِي الصَّلَاةِ الْمَكْتُوبَةِ .

عبداللہ بن عمرو رضی اللہ عنہما کہتے ہیں مفصل ۱؎ کی چھوٹی بڑی کوئی سورت ایسی نہیں جسے میں نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے فرض نماز میں لوگوں کی امامت کرتے ہوئے نہ سنا ہو۔

Abu Hurairah reported the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم as saying: Go out and announce in Madina that prayer is not valid but the recitation of the Quran even though it might be fatihat al-kitab and something more.
