This tradition has also been reported by Shubah through a different chain of narrators. This version adds: Bless Muhammad and Muhammad’s family as Thou didst bless Abraham.
حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ زُرَيْعٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏بِهَذَا الْحَدِيثِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَعَلَى آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏كَمَا صَلَّيْتَ عَلَى إِبْرَاهِيمَ .
اس سند سے بھی شعبہ نے یہی حدیث روایت کی ہے   اس میں یوں ہے: «صل على محمد وعلى آل محمد كما صليت على إبراهيم» اے اللہ! محمد اور آل محمد پر اپنی رحمت نازل فرما جیسا کہ تو نے ابراہیم علیہ السلام پر اپنی رحمت نازل فرمائی ۔

Thou art indeed praiseworthy and glorious. And grant favours to Muhammad. He then narrated the tradition in full.

Abu Masud al-Ansari said: The Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم came to us in a meeting of Saad bin Ubadah. Bashir bin Saad said to him: Allah has commanded us to invoke blessings on you, Messenger of Allah. How should we invoke blessings on you? The Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم kept silence so much so that we wished he would not ask him. Then the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم said: Say. He then narrated the tradition like that of Kaab bin Ujrah. This version adds in the end: In the universe, Thou art praiseworthy and glorious.
