It was narrated from Ibn ‘Umar that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) stood, on the Day of Sacrifice, between the Pillars, during the Hajj that he performed. The Prophet (ﷺ) said: “What day is this?” They said: “The day of sacrifice.” He said: “What land is this?” They said: “This is the sacred land of Allah.” He said: “What month is this?” They said: “The sacred month of Allah.” He said: “This is the day of the greatest Hajj, and your blood, your wealth and your honor are sacred to you, as sacred as this land, in this month, on this day.” Then he said: “Have I conveyed (the message)?” They said: “Yes.” Then the Prophet (ﷺ) started to say: “O Allah, bear witness.” Then he bade farewell to the people, and they said: “This is the Farewell Pilgrimage.”

حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عَمَّارٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا صَدَقَةُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ الْغَازِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ سَمِعْتُ نَافِعًا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ:‏‏‏‏ أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَقَفَ يَوْمَ النَّحْرِ بَيْنَ الْجَمَرَاتِ فِي الْحَجَّةِ الَّتِي حَجَّ فِيهَا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ أَيُّ يَوْمٍ هَذَا؟ ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالُوا:‏‏‏‏ يَوْمُ النَّحْرِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ فَأَيُّ بَلَدٍ هَذَا؟ ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالُوا:‏‏‏‏ هَذَا بَلَدُ اللَّهِ الْحَرَامُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ فَأَيُّ شَهْرٍ هَذَا؟ ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالُوا:‏‏‏‏ شَهْرُ اللَّهِ الْحَرَامُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ هَذَا يَوْمُ الْحَجِّ الْأَكْبَرِ وَدِمَاؤُكُمْ وَأَمْوَالُكُمْ وَأَعْرَاضُكُمْ عَلَيْكُمْ حَرَامٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏كَحُرْمَةِ هَذَا الْبَلَدِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فِي هَذَا الشَّهْرِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فِي هَذَا الْيَوْمِ ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ هَلْ بَلَّغْتُ؟ ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالُوا:‏‏‏‏ نَعَمْ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَطَفِقَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ:‏‏‏‏ اللَّهُمَّ اشْهَدْ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ وَدَّعَ النَّاسَ ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالُوا:‏‏‏‏ هَذِهِ حَجَّةُ الْوَدَاعِ.

عبداللہ بن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے جس سال حج کیا دسویں ذی الحجہ کو جمرات کے درمیان کھڑے ہوئے اور فرمایا: آج کون سا دن ہے ؟ لوگوں نے عرض کیا: یہ یوم النحر ہے، پھر آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: یہ کون سا شہر ہے ؟ لوگوں نے عرض کیا: یہ اللہ کا حرمت والا شہر ہے، پھر آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: یہ کون سا مہینہ ہے ؟ لوگوں نے عرض کیا: یہ اللہ کا حرمت والا مہینہ ہے، آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: یہ حج اکبر کا دن ہے، اور تمہارے خون، تمہارے مال، تمہاری عزت و آبرو اسی طرح تم پر حرام ہیں جیسے اس شہر کی حرمت اس مہینے اور اس دن میں ہے ، پھر آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: کیا میں نے ( اللہ کے احکام تم کو ) پہنچا دئیے ہیں ؟ لوگوں نے عرض کیا: جی ہاں، ( آپ نے پہنچا دئیے ) پھر آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم یہ فرمانے لگے: اے اللہ! تو گواہ رہ ، اس کے بعد لوگوں کو رخصت کیا، تو لوگوں نے کہا: یہ حجۃ الوداع یعنی الوداعی حج ہے ۱؎۔

It was narrated that Muhammad bin ‘Abdur-Rahman bin Abu Bakr said: “I was sitting with Ibn ‘Abbas, and a man came to him and he said: ‘Where have you come from?’ He said: ‘From Zamzam.’ He said: ‘Did you drink from it as you should?’ He said: ‘How is that?’ He said: ‘When you drink from it, turn to face the Qiblah and mention the name of Allah, drink three draughts and drink your fill of it. When you have finished, then praise Allah.’ The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: ‘The sign (that differentiates) between us and the hypocrites is that they do not drink their fill from Zamzam.”

It was narrated that Jabir bin ‘Abdullah said: “I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say: ‘The water of Zamzam is for whatever it is drunk for.’”

It was narrated that Ibn ‘Umar said: “The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) entered the Ka’bah on the Day of the Conquest (of Makkah), with Bilal and ‘Uthman bin Shaibah, and they locked the door behind them from the inside. When they came out, I asked Bilal: ‘Where did the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) pray?’ He told me that when he entered, he turned to his right and prayed in the direction that he was facing, between the two columns.”

It was narrated that ‘Aishah said: “The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) went out delighted, then he came back to me sad. I said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, (why did) you go out happy and come back sad?’ He said: ‘I entered the Ka’bah, and I wish that I had not done that, because I am afraid that I may have caused difficulty for my nation after I am gone.’”
