It was narrated that Ibn ‘Umar said: “Abbas bin ‘Abdul-Muttalib asked the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) for permission to stay overnight in Makkah on the nights of Mina for the purpose of supplying water to the pilgrims, and he gave him permission.
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ نُمَيْرٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ نَافِعٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ اسْتَأْذَنَ الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبِ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنْ يَبِيتَ بِمَكَّةَ أَيَّامَ مِنًى مِنْ أَجْلِ سِقَايَتِهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَأَذِنَ لَهُ .
عبداللہ بن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما کہتے ہیں کہ   عباس بن عبدالمطلب رضی اللہ عنہ نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے منیٰ کی راتوں کو مکہ میں گزارنے کی اجازت مانگی، کیونکہ زمزم کے پلانے کا کام ان کے سپرد تھا، تو آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ان کو اجازت دے دی ۱؎۔
