Mughirah bin Abu Burdah, who was of the tribe of Banu ‘Abd-Dar, narrated that he heard Abu Hurairah say: “The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: ‘The water of the sea is a means of purification and its dead meat is permissible.’”
حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عَمَّارٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا مَالِكُ بْنُ أَنَسٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنِي صَفْوَانُ بْنُ سُلَيْمٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ سَلَمَةَ مِنْ آلِ ابْنِ الْأَزْرَقِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنَّ الْمُغِيرَةَ بْنَ أَبِي بُرْدَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَهُوَ مِنْ بَنِي عَبْدِ الدَّارِ حَدَّثَهُ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏يَقُولُ:‏‏‏‏ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ الْبَحْرُ الطَّهُورُ مَاؤُهُ الْحِلُّ مَيْتَتُهُ ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ أَبُو عَبْد اللَّهِ:‏‏‏‏ بَلَغَنِي عَنْ أَبِي عُبَيْدَةَ الْجَوَادِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنَّهُ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ هَذَا نِصْفُ الْعِلْمِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏لِأَنَّ الدُّنْيَا بَرٌّ وَبَحْرٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَدْ أَفْتَاكَ فِي الْبَحْرِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَبَقِيَ الْبَرُّ.
ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ   رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: سمندر کا پانی پاک ہے اور اس کا مردار حلال ہے ۔ ابوعبداللہ ابن ماجہ کہتے ہیں کہ مجھے ابوعبیدہ الجواد سے یہ بات پہنچی ہے کہ انہوں نے کہا: یہ آدھا علم ہے اس لیے کہ دنیا بحر و بر یعنی خشکی اور تری کا نام ہے، تو آپ نے سمندر کے متعلق مسئلہ بتا دیا، اور خشکی ( کا مسئلہ ) باقی رہ گیا ۱؎۔

It was narrated from Jabir bin ‘Abdullah that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “Whatever the sea throws out or is left behind when the tide ebbs, eat it, but whatever rises to its surface, do not eat it.’”

‘Abdullah bin Salam said: “When the Prophet (ﷺ) came to Al-Madinah, the people rushed to meet him, and it was said: ‘The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) has come! The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) has come! The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) has come!’ Three times. I came with the people to see him, and when I saw his face clearly, I knew that his face was not the face of a liar. The first thing I heard him say was when he said: ‘O people! Spread (the greeting of) Salam, feed others, uphold the ties of kinship, and pray during the night when people are sleeping, and you will enter Paradise with Salam.”*
