It was narrated from Jabir bin ‘Abdullah that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “Whatever the sea throws out or is left behind when the tide ebbs, eat it, but whatever rises to its surface, do not eat it.’”

حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سُلَيْمٍ الطَّائِفِيُّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيل بْنُ أُمَيَّةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ مَا أَلْقَى الْبَحْرُ أَوْ جَزَرَ عَنْهُ فَكُلُوهُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَمَا مَاتَ فِيهِ فَطَفَا فَلَا تَأْكُلُوهُ .

جابر بن عبداللہ رضی اللہ عنہما کہتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: جس جانور کو سمندر نے کنارے پر ڈال دیا ہو یا پانی کم ہو جانے سے وہ مر جائے تو اسے کھاؤ، اور جو سمندر میں مر کر اوپر آ جائے اسے مت کھاؤ ۔

It was narrated that Ibn ‘Umar said: “Who eats crows? The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) called them vermin, By Allah, they are not from among the good and permissible things.”

It was narrated from ‘Aishah that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “Snakes are vermin, scorpions are vermin, mice are vermin and crows are vermin.”

It was narrated that Jabir said: “The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) forbade eating cats and he forbade their price.”

‘Abdullah bin Salam said: “When the Prophet (ﷺ) came to Al-Madinah, the people rushed to meet him, and it was said: ‘The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) has come! The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) has come! The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) has come!’ Three times. I came with the people to see him, and when I saw his face clearly, I knew that his face was not the face of a liar. The first thing I heard him say was when he said: ‘O people! Spread (the greeting of) Salam, feed others, uphold the ties of kinship, and pray during the night when people are sleeping, and you will enter Paradise with Salam.”*

‘Abdullah bin ‘Umar used to say that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “Spread (the greeting og) Salam, offer food (to the needy), and be brothers as Allah, the Mighty and Sublime, has honored you.”

It was narrated from ‘Abdullah bin ‘Amr that a man asked the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ): “O Messenger of Allah, which (aspect) of Islam is the best?” He said: “Offering food (to the needy) and greeting with Salam those whom you know and those whom you do not know.”
