It was narrated from Ibn ‘Abbas that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: “When one of you eats food, let him not wipe his hand until he has licked it or has someone else to lick it.”
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي عُمَرَ الْعَدَنِيُّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَطَاءٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ،‏‏‏‏ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ إِذَا أَكَلَ أَحَدُكُمْ طَعَامًا فَلَا يَمْسَحْ يَدَهُ حَتَّى يَلْعَقَهَا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَوْ يُلْعِقَهَا ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ سُفْيَانُ:‏‏‏‏ سَمِعْتُ عُمَرَ بْنَ قَيْسٍ يَسْأَلُ عَمْرَو بْنَ دِينَارٍ:‏‏‏‏ أَرَأَيْتَ حَدِيثَ عَطَاءٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏لَا يَمْسَحْ أَحَدُكُمْ يَدَهُ حَتَّى يَلْعَقَهَا أَوْ يُلْعِقَهَا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَمَّنْ هُوَ؟ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ فَإِنَّهُ حُدِّثْنَاهُ عَنْ جَابِرٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ حَفِظْنَاهُ مِنْ عَطَاءٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَبْلَ أَنْ يَقْدَمَ جَابِرٌ عَلَيْنَا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَإِنَّمَا لَقِيَ عَطَاءٌ جَابِرًا فِي سَنَةٍ جَاوَرَ فِيهَا بِمَكَّةَ.
عبداللہ بن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما کہتے ہیں کہ   نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: جب تم میں سے کوئی کھانا کھائے تو اپنے ہاتھ نہ پونچھے یہاں تک کہ وہ چاٹ لے یا کسی اور کو چٹا دے، سفیان ( ابن عیینہ ) کہتے ہیں کہ میں نے عمر بن قیس کو عمرو بن دینار سے سوال کرتے سنا کہ عطا کی حدیث: تم میں سے کوئی اپنا ہاتھ نہ صاف کرے یہاں تک کہ وہ اسے چاٹ لے یا کسی اور کو چٹا دے کے بارے میں بتاؤ، وہ کس سے مروی ہے؟ عمرو بن دینار نے کہا: ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما سے مروی ہے، انہوں نے کہا: ہمیں یہ حدیث جابر رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت کی گئی ہے، عمرو بن دینار نے کہا: ہم نے یہ حدیث عطاء سے اور عطاء نے ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما سے یاد کی ہے، اور یہ بات جابر رضی اللہ عنہ کے ہمارے پاس آنے سے پہلے کی ہے جب کہ عطاء کی ملاقات جابر رضی اللہ عنہ سے اس سال ہوئی جب وہ مکہ میں قیام پزیر ہوئے۱؎۔

It was narrated from Jabir that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “None of you should wipe his hand until he has licked it, for he does not know where the blessing if in his food.’”

It was narrated that Umm ‘Asim said: “Nubaishah, the freed slave of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), entered upon us when we were eating from a bowl. He said that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “Whoever eats from a bowl and cleans it, the bowl will pray for forgiveness for him.”

Mu’alla bin Rashid Abu Yaman said: “My grandmother narrated to me from a man of Hudhail who was called Nubaishah Al-Khair. She said: ‘Nubaishah entered upon us when we were eating from a bowl of ours. He said: “The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: ‘Whoever eats from a bowl then cleans it, the bowl will pray for forgiveness for him.’”

It was narrated that ‘Ikrash bin Dhu’aib said: “The Prophet (ﷺ) was brought a bowl filled with Tharid and fatty meat, and we started to eat from it. My hand was wandering all over, so he said: ‘O ‘Ikrash, eat from one spot, for it is all the same food.’ Then we were brought a plate on which were different kinds of fresh dates, and he hand of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) went all around the plate. He said: ‘O ‘Ikrash, eat from wherever you want, for they are not all the same.’”

‘Abdullah bin Busr narrated that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) was brought a bowl (of food). The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “Eat from the sides and leave the top, so that it may be blessed.”
