It was narrated that 'Aishah said: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) recited the following Verse: 'It is He Who has sent down to you (Muhammad) the Book (this Qur'an). In it are verses that are entirely clear, they are the foundations of the Book; and others not entirely clear (up to His saying: ) 'And none receive admonition except men of understanding.' Then he said: 'O 'Aishah, if you see those who dispute concerning it (the Qur'an), they are those whom Allah has referred to here, so beware of them.'

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ خَالِدِ بْنِ خِدَاشٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيل ابْنُ عُلَيَّةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا أَيُّوبُ . ح وحَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ ثَابِتٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ وَيَحْيَى بْنُ حَكِيمٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قالا:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا أَيُّوبُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي مُلَيْكَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَتْ:‏‏‏‏ تَلَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ هَذِهِ الْآيَةَ هُوَ الَّذِي أَنْزَلَ عَلَيْكَ الْكِتَابَ مِنْهُ آيَاتٌ مُحْكَمَاتٌ هُنَّ أُمُّ الْكِتَابِ وَأُخَرُ مُتَشَابِهَاتٌ سورة آل عمران آية 7 إِلَى قَوْلِهِ وَمَا يَذَّكَّرُ إِلا أُولُو الأَلْبَابِ سورة آل عمران آية 7، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ يَا عَائِشَةُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ إِذَا رَأَيْتُمُ الَّذِينَ يُجَادِلُونَ فِيهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَهُمُ الَّذِينَ عَنَاهُمُ اللَّهُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَاحْذَرُوهُمْ .

ام المؤمنین عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا کہتی ہیں کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے یہ آیت کریمہ تلاوت کی: «هو الذي أنزل عليك الكتاب منه آيات محكمات هن أم الكتاب وأخر متشابهات» اللہ تعالیٰ کے یہ فرمان «وما يذكر إلا أولو الألباب» تک: ( سورة آل عمران: 7 ) ، یعنی: وہی اللہ ہے جس نے تم پر کتاب اتاری، جس میں اس کی بعض آیات معلوم و متعین معنی والی محکم ہیں جو اصل کتاب ہیں، اور بعض آیات متشابہ ہیں، پس جن کے دلوں میں کجی اور ٹیڑھ ہے وہ تو اس کی متشابہ آیتوں کے پیچھے لگ جاتے ہیں تاکہ فتنہ پھیلائیں اور ان کے معنی مراد کی جستجو کریں، حالانکہ ان کے حقیقی معنی مراد کو سوائے اللہ کے کوئی نہیں جانتا، اور پختہ و مضبوط علم والے یہی کہتے ہیں کہ ہم تو ان پر ایمان رکھتے ہیں، یہ تمام ہمارے رب کی طرف سے نازل ہوئی ہیں، اور نصیحت تو صرف عقلمند حاصل کرتے ہیں ۔ اور ( آیت کی تلاوت کے بعد ) آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: عائشہ! جب ان لوگوں کو دیکھو جو متشابہ آیات میں جھگڑتے اور بحث و تکرار کرتے ہیں تو یہی وہ لوگ ہیں جن کو اللہ نے اس آیت کریمہ میں مراد لیا ہے، تو ان سے بچو ۱؎۔

It was narrated that Abu Umamah said: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: 'No people go astray after having followed right guidance, but those who indulge in disputes.' Then he recited the Verse: Nay! But they are a quarrelsome people.'

It was narrated that Hudhaifah said: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: 'Allah will not accept any fasting, prayer, charity, Hajj, 'Umrah, Jihad, or any other obligatory or voluntary action from a person who follows innovation (Bid'ah). He comes out of Islam like a hair pulled out of dough. (Maudu')

It was narrated that 'Abdullah bin 'Abbas said: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: 'Allah refuses to accept the good deeds of one who follows innovation until he gives up that innovation.'

It was narrated that Ans bin Malik said: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: 'Whoever gives up telling lies in support of a false claim, a palace will be built for him in the outskirts of Paradise. Whoever gives up argument when he is in the right, a palace will be built from him in the middle (of Paradise). And whoever had good behavior, a palace will be built for him in the highest reaches (of Paradise).'

It was narrated from 'Abdullah bin 'Amr bin 'As that: the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: 'Allah will not take away knowledge by removing it from people (from their hearts). Rather He will take away knowledge by taking away the scholars, then when there are no scholars left, the people will take the ignorant as their leaders. They will be asked questions and they will issue verdicts without knowledge, thus they will go astray and lead others astray.'

It was narrated that Abu Hurairah said: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: 'Whoever is given a Fatwa (verdict) that has no basis, then his sin will be upon the one who issued that Fatwa.'
