Translation

It was narrated from Salim that his father said: “A Bedouin came to the Prophet (ﷺ) and said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, my father used to uphold the ties of kinship, and so and so forth, where is he?’ He said: ‘In the Fire.’ It was as if he found that difficult to bear. Then he said: ‘O Messenger of Allah. Where is your father?’ The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: ‘Whenever you pass by the grave of an idolater, give him the tidings of Hell-fire.’ The Bedouin later became Muslim, and he said: ‘The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) gave me a difficult task. I never passed the grave of an idolater but I gave him the tidings of Hell-fire.’”

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيل بْنِ الْبَخْتَرِيِّ الْوَاسِطِيُّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ سَعْدٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ سَالِمٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِيهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ جَاءَ أَعْرَابِيٌّ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏إِنَّ أَبِي كَانَ يَصِلُ الرَّحِمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَكَانَ وَكَانَ فَأَيْنَ هُوَ؟، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ فِي النَّارِ ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ فَكَأَنَّهُ وَجَدَ مِنْ ذَلِكَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَأَيْنَ أَبُوكَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ حَيْثُمَا مَرَرْتَ بِقَبْرِ كَافِرٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَبَشِّرْهُ بِالنَّارِ ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ فَأَسْلَمَ الْأَعْرَابِيُّ بَعْدُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ لَقَدْ كَلَّفَنِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ تَعَبًا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏مَا مَرَرْتُ بِقَبْرِ كَافِرٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏إِلَّا بَشَّرْتُهُ بِالنَّارِ.

عبداللہ بن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما کہتے ہیں کہ ایک اعرابی ( دیہاتی ) نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے پاس آیا، اور کہا: اللہ کے رسول! میرے والد صلہ رحمی کیا کرتے تھے، اور اس اس طرح کے اچھے کام کیا کرتے تھے، تو اب وہ کہاں ہیں؟ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: وہ جہنم میں ہیں اس بات سے گویا وہ رنجیدہ ہوا، پھر اس نے کہا: اللہ کے رسول! آپ کے والد کہاں ہیں؟ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: جب تم کسی مشرک کی قبر کے پاس سے گزرو، تو اس کو جہنم کی خوشخبری دو اس کے بعد وہ اعرابی ( دیہاتی ) مسلمان ہو گیا، اور کہا: رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے مجھ پر ایک ذمہ داری ڈال دی ہے، اب کسی بھی کافر کی قبر سے گزرتا ہوں تو اسے جہنم کی بشارت دیتا ہوں۔

It was narrated that ‘Ali said: “The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) went out and saw some women sitting, and he said: ‘What are you sitting here for?’ They said: ‘We are waiting for the funeral.’ He said: ‘Are you going to wash the deceased?’ They said: ‘No.’ He said: ‘Are you going to lower him into the grave?’ They said: ‘No.’ He said: ‘Then go back with a burden of sin and not rewarded.’”

It was narrated from Umm Salamah from the Prophet (ﷺ) regarding: “And that they will not disobey you in Ma’ruf (all that is good in Islam);” he said: “(It is about) wailing.”
