Abdullah bin al-Saib said; the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم led us in the morning prayer at Makkah. He began to recite Surah al-Mu;minin and while he came to description of Moses and Aaron or the description of Moses and Jesus the narrator Ibn Abbad doubts or other narrators differed amongst themselves on this word the prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم coughed and gave up (recitation) and then bowed Abdullah bin al-Saib was present seeing all this incident.

حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَأَبُو عَاصِمٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَا:‏‏‏‏ أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ سَمِعْتُ مُحَمَّدَ بْنَ عَبَّادِ بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏يَقُولُ:‏‏‏‏ أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو سَلَمَةَ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَعَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ الْمُسَيِّبِ الْعَابِدِيُّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَعَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَمْرٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ السَّائِبِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ صَلَّى بِنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الصُّبْحَ بِمَكَّةَ فَاسْتَفْتَحَ سُورَةَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَتَّى إِذَا جَاءَ ذِكْرُ مُوسَى، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَهَارُونَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَوْ ذِكْرُ مُوسَى، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَعِيسَى، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ابْنُ عَبَّادٍ يَشُكُّ أَوِ اخْتَلَفُوا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَخَذَتْ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ سَعْلَةٌ فَحَذَفَ فَرَكَعَ ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَعَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ السَّائِبِ حَاضِرٌ لِذَلِكَ.

عبداللہ بن سائب رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ہمیں مکہ میں صبح کی نماز پڑھائی، آپ نے سورۃ مؤمنون کی تلاوت شروع کی یہاں تک کہ جب آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم موسیٰ ۱؎ اور ہارون علیہما السلام، یا موسیٰ اور عیسیٰ علیہما السلام کے قصے پر پہنچے ( راوی حدیث ابن عباد کو شک ہے یا رواۃ کا اس میں اختلاف ہے ) تو آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو کھانسی آ گئی، آپ نے قرآت چھوڑ دی اور رکوع میں چلے گئے، عبداللہ بن سائب رضی اللہ عنہ ( سابقہ حدیث کے راوی ) اس وقت وہاں موجود تھے ۲؎۔

Narrated Abu Saeed al-Khudri: While the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم was leading his Companions in prayer, he took off his sandals and laid them on his left side; so when the people saw this, they removed their sandals. When the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم finished his prayer, he asked: What made you remove your sandals? The replied: We saw you remove your sandals, so we removed our sandals. The Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم then said: Gabriel came to me and informed me that there was filth in them. When any of you comes to the mosque, he should see; if he finds filth on his sandals, he should wipe it off and pray in them.

This tradition has also been transmitted through a chain by Bakr bin Abdullah. This version has the word Khubuth (filth) and in two places the word Khubuthan (filth).

Narrated Aws ibn Thabit al-Ansari: The Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم said: Act differently from the Jews, for they do not pray in their sandals or their shoes.

Narrated Abdullah ibn Amr ibn al-As: I saw the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم praying both barefooted and wearing sandals.

Narrated Abu Hurairah: The Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم said: When any of you prays, he should not place his sandals on his right side or on his left so as to be on the right side of someone else, unless no one is at his left, but should place them between his feet.

Abu Hurairah reported the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم as saying: when any of you prays and takes off his sandals, he should not harm anyone by them. He should place them between his feet or pray with them on
